Child And Family Studio Photo Sessions
Little ones tend to be happier after a night's rest, so I typically suggest morning sessions while they are still sleep fresh.
I have a variety of backdrops that you can choose from prior to the photo session. I have many accessories but please feel free to bring your own accessories as well. If you have any special items that mean something to you e.g. an old wood rocking horse, a stuffed toy, a special blanket - please bring it and we can try and incorporate it into the photos.
Don't forget changes of clothes and think ahead to what you would like to see your little ones wearing in photos on the wall. Try and refrain from harsh colours, clothing with motifs or characters as these distract from the face. If you are having a family photo wear colours that compliment each other, DON'T match. But DO coordinate, most of all be comfortable. Please also consider hair, makeup and nails as I won't be responsible for editing hair styles, adding eyeshadow or painting in chipped nail varnish.
If you would like a studio style family photograph, we will need the large backdrop. The backdrop will accommodate two adults and two/three children (depending on age) from sitter age up. Families wishing to incorporate a newborn or newborn together with siblings are done during a full newborn photo session as different props and equipment is needed. For larger families I would recommend a location photo shoot.
Location Photo Sessions
Location photoshoots are ideal for families to capture a more natural feel, especially if there are many of you and there is a family member with fur and paws! I have various locations I can take you to that aren't too far away. There are a few things to consider with a location photo session, the main thing is the weather. As a rule all parties attending the session need to be flexible with multiple dates in mind, incase the first date is a wash out. Secondly, are the times of day, especially during the Summer months. On a bright sunny day these sessions ideally need to be carried out before 10.30 am or after 6/7 pm to compensate for the harsh light. The ideal time is in the evening before the sun sets ( golden hour) the light at this time is golden and most flattering.... doing the session earlier in the day you face over head harsh light and causes squinting and dark shadowed eyes. The best times of the year for location photo sessions are Spring when all the flowers are blooming and Autumn for the stunning colours of the trees, adding a beautifully coloured backdrop to the photos.
